MyApproach

My philosophy when working with clients is  that our time, energy, and attention are limited resources and require trade-offs on where we invest them to succeed.

I have coached hundreds of employees on using their signature strengths to achieve their career goals, navigate their options, and handle work place challenges.

This includes how to build a strong brand with their resume/ cover letter, networking and interview preparation.

CASE STUDIES

Get Promoted

Get Noticed By The Right People

Struggling to get promoted? I’ve worked with clients who have been passed over for promotion and the feedback they get doesn’t seem to help them

I like to ask my clients, “who knows you and what are you known for”?

Knowing your personal brand is one thing but, it doesn’t help if the right people don’t know you.

One of my clients came to me frustrated and ready to leave their company. We worked together making some small and impactful changes to their brand message, resume, bio and networking strategy to help them showcase their skills and value.

The result: my client was offered coveted opportunity to demonstrate their skills and readiness to move
into the next role.

Find Your Tribe

The Right Fit Is Critical for Success

Dealing with conflict in the workplace is part of life and can often be productive. But what do you do when
it’s you don’t fit into the company culture, or you feel your workplace is toxic and it’s stalling your career
and stealing your joy?

I invite clients to start with their values and assess how well they align to the company culture. For
example, if the company values tree climbing and, you’re a turtle in a group of squirrels then, your skills
as a swimmer may never be appreciated.

One of my clients had this type of problem and after we worked together, they made the decision to find a
role in a highly collaborative firm.

Their reward was a better role in a company that fit them perfectly!

Get The Job

You Are Good Enough… Now Act Like It!

Want to land that desired job? But not getting past the first interview?

Understanding what potential future bosses are looking for during the interview process can sometimes
be very frustrating.

One client lamented that they were struggling with the second interviews for leadership roles and couldn’t
seem to couldn’t close the deal. This is a common experience for many skilled and upward mobile
professionals.

We started by getting a deeper understanding of the role they were looking for. There is not only a
language for a role, and it also has a personality. This is what brings your resume to life.

Working together we focused building a consistent brand on paper and in person.

With a little practice the client got the job!

Landing Your First ‘Real’ Job

Know How to Convey Your Value

Transitioning from school to a career is a major milestone in your life. And landing your first ‘real job is
one of the most adult things you will do.

Students who are ready to join the workforce in their adulting journey are often looking for tips on getting
a job.

I ask them what makes you different from any other applicant and how would that be of value to a
potential employer? Just ticking of the job requirements in your resume may not be enough to get the job
you want.

It helps to have a plan, know what you have to offer: your skills, abilities, experiences, and
accomplishments and what is unique about how you work.

Getting that coveted first job also requires preparedness, tenacity and flexibility and working with an
experienced coach who can provide objective feedback can help make the process simpler and easier.

Achieve Balance

If IT Doesn’t Serve YOU - Let IT Go

A client who was a high performing professional had recently expanded her family – and was now a mom
to two under two!

She struggled blending full time parent with full time career. She was used to giving 100% in everything
she did and being successful.

We talked about perspective. Specifically, time horizons and what balance would look like if she let go of
negative thoughts, critical self talk that no longer served her and was driving her to burn out.

The client was able to rechart her career that focused on flexibility and allowed her to growth. She looked
for a role in a firm that supported families and career progression. Sound s like a win-win.

Reframe Feedback

Ruthlessly Evaluate Feedback.

We have all received a negative review at sometime. Receiving criticism is hard even for the well
seasoned emotionally mature leader.

A colleague reached out to me and shared they were ready to quit their job after receiving a negative
performance review. They felt blindsided and felt this was areal blow to their confidence and career. This
was the first time in they had negative feedback on their performance.

I asked them if they would suspend their judgement and take this as an opportunity. We worked on a
plan to meet with their boss to clarify and ensure feedback given was actionable. The client then worked
to reframe the feedback, pull out the gold nuggets and, let go of the rest.

By seeking to understand first and remaining positive and proactive they were able to stay confident and
improve their working relationship with their boss.
